The story of Sudhir Choudhrie is a challenging one, but it inspires people. He is a successful entrepreneur and has played a significant role in international business, politics, philanthropy, and diplomacy. Sudhir Choudhrie was born and raised in India, but he currently lives in the United Kingdom after obtaining British citizenship in 2010. His story is not for the faint-hearted people because he learned of his serious health condition at an early age, but he inspires people by continuing with a positive impact on the lives of those around him.
Sudhir Choudhrie was born in 1949 in Delhi, India. Although his father died when he was young, his mother cared for him by becoming a good role model. Choudhrie was diagnosed with heart conditions when he was eight years old. The doctor’s exterminations report showed a leaking valve in his heart, making his heart skip, and it put him in danger of experiencing heart failure. These health challenges didn’t stop him from becoming a successful entrepreneur. Being a pride student at high school, Sudhir managed to join the University of Delhi, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics. After graduating, Sudhir worked with his grandfather in real estate for a few years before starting his own company.
In 1975, Sudhir Choudhrie started Magnum Trading Company Ltd, which dealt with the export market. He later ventured into the tourism sector by building Taj Hotels and resorts. His health conditions deteriorated, and he suffered two heart attacks forcing him to look for a heart transplant donor. The compatible donor was founded in 1999, and he was a 20-year-old man from the United States. The surgery was carried out at Columbia University Medical Institute located in New York. After the transplant, Sudhir underwent a series of therapy sessions that helped him recover fully and resume his daily life. He currently participates in philanthropic activities, and one of the most significant donations is the Choudhrie Family Foundation to the University of Oxford.
